News Tri-State Rebate Available for Clearlight 40W LED NEMA Type 5 Lamp Tri-State member cooperatives can purchase the Clearlight from Western United Electric Supply (WUE) and receive their rebate from Tri-State by contacting Tri-State’s member services department. Rebates under the program are limited to 25 units per cooperative. “Tri-State’s comprehensive energy efficiency offerings to its member systems help consumers use energy wisely,” said Jon Beyer, member services manager at Tri-State. “We are running this particular rebate as a pilot program in 2010. Pilots are intended to investigate new electric technologies that after further research can assist our members and member-consumers in meeting their needs in an efficient and effective manner. LED outdoor lighting has the ability to save consumers money through energy savings and reduced maintenance costs.” “Evluma is very pleased with the support it has received from Tri-State in developing this rebate program,” said David Tanonis, VP of Sales & Marking at Evluma. “Evluma encourages all of Tri-State’s members to take advantage of this program. This is a great opportunity to capture the Clearlight’s energy and maintenance savings potential.” Mike Prom, CEO of WUE, adds “Western United strongly supports the interest that consumers have shown in the greater use of more efficient lighting by offering an array of new LED lighting products. The Evluma lamp is a very important solution for improving lighting applications in both the rural and urban areas.” With a power factor of ≥ 0.9 and a custom designed internal LED driver taking the place of the fixture’s legacy ballast, the Clearlight uses 75 percent less electricity than a 175W MV lamp, says Evluma. An active cooling system keeps the thermal junction temperature low, resulting in long life and delivering an estimated L70 at 70,000 hours or longer. Its long lifetime, 3-4x longer than the MV and HPS technology it replaces, requires fewer maintenance visits. The Clearlight is mercury-free and is certified by the International Dark-Sky Association. About Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc.
