Primary Function:

The Technical Product Manager understands our customers and their needs, in addition to being an expert in our products and development capabilities. You use that understanding to define, develop, launch, and maintain new products. You work hand in hand in with the engineering team and coordinate with marketing, sales, customer support and supply chain. You work collaboratively across all functions and seniority levels to formulate and execute product strategy, product definition, implementation priorities, launch plans, and sales/marketing support.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSEE preferred), or Marketing/Business with a strong technical acumen
• 5+ years’ experience in an electromechanical hardware product management role. Mobile software apps experience a plus. Lighting industry experience a plus
• A demonstrable history of successful hardware product launches
• Technical, analytical and cross-functional collaboration experience
• Strong strategic thinking and excellent communication skills
• Must be able to legally work for any employer in the United States of America

Essential Duties:

• Owner of the product roadmap: Define features and technical specifications for new products based on long-term product vision, user needs, technical and market trends
• Markets & customers: Understand the value our product brings to our customer base in the marketplace to synthesize our unique value proposition and harmonize with marketing strategy and collateral
• Product & features: Understand our products in-depth to support sales and marketing activities while collaborating with engineering on new capabilities
• Product strategy: Ensure that we have a comprehensive product strategy for achieving company’s vision and operating plan.
• Product definition, positioning, and launch: Translate customer and market insights into a concrete product definition and go-to-market plan. Build executive alignment for your recommended course of action
• Engineering’s trusted resource: Balance technical feasibility with market requirements and timely releases
• Product development stakeholder: Work collaboratively with sales, customer support, marketing, and supply chain to identify and resolve risks to our product development and delivery plan
• Competitive analysis: Understand our customer’s full range of alternatives, and company’s positioning with respect to those alternatives and maintain a database of competitive products
• Data-driven decision-making: Gather insights to inform product decisions wherever possible. When insights aren’t readily available, develop methods and tools to attain them
• Consumer advocacy: Tirelessly advocate for the customer, both inside and outside
• Go-to resource for technical support of sales and marketing team including product questions, photometric analysis, trouble shooting and RFQ/specification review
• Continuous review of product SKUs and recommend EOL and consolidation strategies
